IEC60335-1 Annex B20.1 Battery Operated Appliance Pressure Test

According to IEC60335-1 Annex B20.1,the enclosure of a battery-operated appliance incorporating an integral battery that uses metal-ion chemistry shall withstand the pressure generated when a cell vents during failure.

The total area of the unobstructed openings in the enclsure allowing gasses to pass shall be not less than the value specified in below table.

A volume of air of the amount specified in below table shall be injected through a 2,85±0,05mm diameter orifice into the enclosure at an initial overpressure of 2070kPa ±10%.Test fittings used for the test shall not increase the enclosure volume by more than 3ml.The overpressure within the enclosure shall below 70kPa within 30 s without any unintended rupturing damage to the enclosure.
