Handles,knobs,grips,levers and parts providing a similar function shall be fixed in a reliable manner so that they will not woek loose in normal use if loosening could result in a hazard,including a choking hazaard.If these parts are uned to indicate the position of switches or similar components,it shall not be possible to remove or fix them incorrecty if this could result in a hazard.The requirement concerning the choking hazard does not apply to appliances intended for commercial use.
Sealing compound and similar materials,other than self-hardening resins,shall not be used to prevent looseing.
Compliance is checked by inspection,by manual test and by trying to remove the part by applying an axial force of :
-15 N,if axial is pull is unlikely to be applied in normal use;
-30 N,if an axial pull is likely to be applied in normal use.
The force is applied for 1 min.
If the is removed and can be contained within the small parts cylinder in Fingure 13 of IEC 60335-1,its loosening is considered to result in a chocking hazard.
Small Parts Cylinder,to measure the loosen of the small parts,according to IEC60335-1 clause 22.12 and figure 13 ,if the part is removed and can be contained with the small parts cylinder,its loosening is considered to result in a choking hazard.
